New network aid center in Beer Sheva added
Monday, March 24, 2008
For a year, Hesed Bamidbar (Grace in the Desert) had been studying how to become an effective aid center to serve the needs in the Negev. After much prayer and planning,a new distribution center was opened in Beer Sheva with Sean and Ayelet Steckbeck as its directors.
Now they have opened and have decided on a bridal salon for area brides-to-be, clothing distribution and meal outreach. Recently, Sean explained the vision of this new aid center: “Our current projects are (1) a humanitarian aid center, including clothes, food, shoes, other resources, (2) a single mothers project which will provide aid to 14 single mothers and a support group, and (3) wedding Gowns to help those who will be marrying but do not have funds for a wedding dress.” Ayelet recently gave a description of the single mothers project: “Our single mothers project plans to give $60-$110 in NIS (depending on size of family) for six months in grocery vouchers according to every particular mother’s need. A local grocery store will deliver the groceries for $2 per home to each mother’s home once a month. We will also let them come to the aid center for clothing, shoes, baby formula, diapers, furniture, and toys. There is criteria for joining the program which includes joining a support group, financial planning, and life planning. Afterwards, each single mother will leave the six-month program with tools to create a better life and understanding of how to survive as a single mother.” Please pray for all of the 30 aid distribution centers in Israel including this newest one in Beer Sheva. These centers give aid to thousands of needy Israelis with the light of God shining through and making a difference in the Land. We thank the Lord and caring friends like you for making this MJAA Joseph Project expansion into the Negev at Beer Sheva
